Activity 2 1/10/11

Atomic mass is the mass of a specific isotope. Atomic mass is expressed in unified atomic mass units. Atomic mass is the total mass of all protons, neutrons, and electrons in a single atom when motionless. Atomic mass is the mass of an atom; which can be only one isotope at a time; mass of 1 mole of atoms.

What is a dozen?
                A dozen is twelve.

What is a case?
                A case is twenty-four.

What is a gross?
A gross is a dozen, dozens.

What is a mole (mol)?
A mole is a unit of measurement for the amount of substance or chemical amount. A mole of any pure substance has a mass in grams exactly equal to that substance’s molecular or atomic mass. “The mole is defined as the amount of substance that contains as many elementary entities (atoms, molecules, ions, electrons) as there are atoms in 12g of the isotope carbon-12.
6.02 x 10^23

How many plant earths are needed to have a mol of people?
About, 6 billion people on this earth. So 6 x 10^9 would equal one earth. 6 x 10^18 would give two plant earths. 6 x 10^27 would give three plant earths and a mol is 6.02 x 10^23, so getting in between 10^18 and 10^27, it would leave us around 10^22/23 which will get us closer to getting to a mol. And since we are only multiply by 6 we would need more to give us 6.02 x 10^23 (mol).
Approximately: 3 planet earths to fit a mol of people.
